The Anacostia River Gets the National Spotlight with New American Girl Doll

Meet Evette: the newest American Girl doll whose story is drawn from the Anacostia River.

American Girl dolls are a national brand that aims to tell the story of our country through the eyes of young women.  Each doll has a book, or series of books, that give the reader a snapshot of life for the American Girl in her historical time period.  Evette loves vintage clothes, upcycling, and protecting nature - including the Anacostia River near her home. Her story, The River and Me, was written by author and Anacostia High School alumna, Sharon Dennis Wyeth.

The Anacostia Watershed Society is proud to have done a lot of the work for the river's recovery that helped inspire this story and elevate it to the national level.
